Our inspiring story and driving passion

The MoKay Freedom Project was born from the personal journeys of its founders, Mikayla Hackworth and Glenna Mojica. Both have dedicated years to addiction recovery and mental health support, but their passion runs deeper—stemming from their own life challenges and triumphs. Mikayla and Glenna understand what it means to face life-altering struggles and the courage it takes to rebuild. Their experiences revealed a crucial need: people require more than programs; they need compassion, community, and tailored guidance. They saw that many navigating recovery, mental health challenges, or life transitions are underserved and overlooked.

Who we empower

Partnering with Logan Asbury, a veteran and finance expert passionate about helping others, they envisioned an organization that empowers individuals to reclaim their independence, dignity, and purpose. The MoKay Freedom Project focuses on supporting:

  • People overcoming addiction – those working to reclaim their lives from substance use.
  • Individuals facing mental health challenges – providing guidance, understanding, and community.
  • People recently released from incarceration – helping them reintegrate and rebuild their lives.
  • Those experiencing homelessness or housing instability – offering resources and support to regain independence.

Our unique path to empowerment

The MoKay Freedom Project stands out because we combine personal experience, professional expertise, and holistic support to truly meet people where they are. Unlike some organizations that focus solely on programs or policies, we empower the whole person—fostering their independence, well-being, and sense of purpose. We believe in building a foundation for lasting change, one individual at a time, within a caring and understanding community.
